So, we managed to wake up and go for a walk at 9am. A different but still interesting crowd around the square today. The Tai Chi people were still around, but I think some had finished and gone home, in their place a full-blown choir and a traditional percussion [sp?] band. Photos from the morning:
^ The choir being led by a guy with a megaphone. I can't say the singing through the megaphone was the best quality, but the choir sounded nice.
^ A giant sculpture in the center of the square. Chinapower.
^ Tim looking deep in thought. Or just tired...
^ The band started with their drum and cymballs. One woman would beat out a tune on a small gong-type instrument, then the drum and cymballs would repeat that beat about 8 times. Rinse and repeat.
^ It was an all-woman band, quite well-dressed individuals.
^ Even the locals seemed to be enjoying the spectacle.
^ Damn those drums were loud.
^ Me looking very white. Blending in is for losers.
^ Early morning fog. Who am I kidding, it's 9:30am smog.
^ Loads of photos of this woman, but most were out of focus as I was trying to be discreet. Will grow a pair and take a better set soon. But she'll probably kick my ass.
^ Again, kinda out of focus.
^ Very surreal to watch.
^ A typical back alley / street.
^ a shot taken further down the street. Muslim street vendor in the background pushing his kart.
^ Back alley shop. Not quite the neon-flashness of the main street.
^ The market. I'll have to try get a shot from inside the market, but it's very, very crowded.
^ A globe in one of the rooms at school. Oh, and a bottle of Jack Daniels. It's China. :)
^ An empty classroom. No classes today.
^ Putting my feet up after a hard morning. Yeah, thats a Pizza Hut box. Not mine. :-P
Transport in Weinan.
Took a few shots of various wheel'd things around Weinan.
^ The transport of choice for the masses.
^ A bike with a pick-up truck welded to the back. You see lots of varations of this from different motorbikes / scooters with different flat beds.
^ The harder way to carry your crap around town.
^ Scooters are super common too. Beep Beep.
Tim's just gone off to collect his girlfriend, Aya, from the bus station. We'll go grab some food, then see what the afternoon has in store. I also started moving my apartment around. I'll maybe post pictures when it's done. I've basically moved everything into the bigger room. It's a bit more snug.
