Okay, so yesterday I may have tweeted that a group of Shaolin monks had told us about a kung fu demo being held at the sports centre on the night. Long story short, we went and nobody there knew what the hell was going on. Aya was with us when we were talking to the monks, so that pretty much rules out translation problems, so the only alternative is that we were lied to by a monk! (They were all in their robes when we saw them, but the one talking to us was wearing Nikes...and as the old proverb says. Never trust a monk in Nikes...)

Anyway, the day started off at 7am with a skype chat to the parents. I know they read this, so Hi Mum, Hi Dad!

For dinner we went to a restaurant that specialised in.... something.... can't remember what it was called, but it was similar to porridge. Anyway, I don't like porridge, and I sure didn't like that stuff. China has some awesome foods, I just don't like 50% of them :P

Random snap of the menu:

So, then in the evening we trek'd all the way up to the sports centre, meeting Christie and Copper on the way, then the aforementioned disappointment. So, we went to KTV! This was my third KTV in a week, and my third KTV establishment (there's quite a lot.) This one had a lesser quality booth, the acoustics were nasty, with odly angled walls and ceiling-mounted speakers pointed at the walls. It all sounded a bit janky. But, the song selection (at least for English songs) was much more rounded than the other places. Buuuuuut, 90% of them were "interesting" cover versions. There were a few fresh prince / Will Smith tracks, and on some, the Chinaman that covered them couldn't even sing the song... so he was just singing the last word of every line. It was... "interesting."
That said, it was my first KTV sobre, so perhaps all the others are just as janky, but I'm normally to tipsy to tell.
Pro tip: Always drink before/during/after karaoke.
