Okay, so yesterday we met up at like 10am to head to Xi'an. A short taxi ride to the bus station, then the 1hr bus ride to Xi'an.
As always, clicky clicky the picy picy to embiggen.
^ on board the bus to Xi'an. Well, technically a coach... but you get the idea.
^ The bus station.
^ The Chinese highways system is pretty toll-heavy. These toll booths are a common sight.
^ Once you're on the highway though, they're normally pretty deserted.
^ The view on the road from Weinan to Xi'An. Beautiful mountains to the south.
^ Crazy landscapes of this resevoir.
^ Chinese billboards can be quite entertaining.
^ I like this sliproad that just ended in mid-air. I also liked the power station in the background of this shot.
^ Cranes are the skyline of modern China.
^ This ill-looking truck made me laugh. Notice the transformers sticker on the side of the cab. Coupled with the leaning-forward of the cab, led me to chuckle. Moreso when you look at the huge pile of oil on the floor.
^ I love these lil' three wheel'd trucks. Beep beep!
^ Two cops would rather talk about last night's NBA game than direct traffic.
^ Taxis in Xi'an are green, they're also douchebags. They'll refuse fares from one side of the city to the other just because they're too lazy.
^ This guy was pushing his big-ass tyre down the street. looked kinda fun.
^ This dude looked like a mobile transmission truck for CNN or the BBC or something. Loving the satellite dish.
^ One of the main roads around Xi'an.
^ A few dudes hitchin' a ride and chillin'
^ Again, the variety of vehicle chosen by the cops is vast!
^ 3-wheel'd transport is so awesome.
^ They have pretty dope Honda Accords over here.
^ Rickshaws waiting for a fare.
^ This bus looked so small and cute!
^ The ancient wall from the old city of Xi'an.
^ The ancient wall and towers met with the modern-day crane.
^ The entrance to the city through the city walls.
^ Inside the city and construction is common- I liked how this dude was wearing cammoflauge, as appose to the west where he'd be wearing high-visibility jackets.
^ This is also what I like about China. When your s**t breaks, you fix it. You don't call someone, you don't pussy around, you don't make excuses. You grab your tools and fix it.
^ A random street in Xi'an with the walls in the background.
^ A more traditional street near the old gates to the city.
^ Quite a dope looking doorway.
^ Tim & Aya. "Awwwwwwww."
^ This was the guy that I got my scrolls / calligraphy from. A formidable crowd of Chinese gathered round to see what the white guys would buy. They were handy though; when haggling on price, the fact they didn't laugh at what I paid was a good measure that I hadn't been ripped off.
^ Me with my new friend.
^ Another photo around the traditional gate area.
^ Moar.
^ Moar.
^ Moar.
^ Moar.
^ Moar.
^ The walls are awesome. They go around the entire old part of the city. Apparently you can hire bikes and bike around the whole city on top of the wall. I can't wait to do that.
^ Again, the police will use anything as a cop car.
^ They have a wierd Merc out here, the R class.
^ The bell tower. It's a bit like the arc de triumphe, in the middle of a busy island.
^ The drum tower.
^ A gazillion kites all linked to each other, very cool.
^ The dude with his kites.
^ Close up of the drum tower.
^ Kites disappearing into the sky.
^ A cool looking building.
^ My shopping haul for the day. You can't go to China without buying fake kicks.
^ I bought one calligraphy piece (it reads 'God helps those who help themselves') and 4 wall scrolls.
^ A close up of my wall scroll.
^ A close up of the calligraphy.
^ My fake "pumas" and "DCs" with my real deal DCs chillin' in the back.
Sorry this post took so long to get put up, Going through all the pictures took ages!
